    Online Judge-Your-Body (JYB) Worksheet Instructions
    (please read thoroughly)

"Think of a recurring stressful thought about your body or a part of your body. (You may replace the word "body" in the questions and answers below with, "legs", "belly", "heart", "cancer", etc.)"

step 1: Identify the stressful situation.

    • Choose ONE moment in time (the moment you were emotionally triggered about your body or health).
    • Close your eyes and notice the image of that very moment, like a photograph.
    • Refer to this image as you answer each of the 6 Questions of the JYB below.

    Describe the situation...

Notice where you you were when you had this thought about your body.

Were you alone or were others around? Were you comparing yourself to someone, or worried about what others might think of you? Just notice.

What time of day / year was it? Was there something special about this time? A recent event?

If you are remembering something that happened in childhood, write from the perspective of that child.

while you focus on this mental image of the situation...

What is it about your body that angers, confuses, or disappoints you, and why?
    Examples:
I am angry at my body because it is old.
I am saddened by my back pain, because I can't go skiing.
How do you want your body to change?
    Examples:
I want my body to be young and free of wrinkles.
I want my body to lose weight.
What advice would you offer to your body?
    Examples:
My body should stop getting old.
My body should be pain free.
In order for you to be happy, what do your body to be or do?
    Examples:
I need my body to stay beautiful forever.
I need my body to attract a lover.
I need my body to stay young.
What do you think of your body? Make a list.
    Example:
My body is ugly, wrinkled all over, disgusting, inflexible, in pain, and out of control.
What is it in or about your body that you don't ever want to experience again?
    Examples:
I don’t ever want people to see me as too fat again.
I don’t ever want my body to be in pain again.
